Investment and Costs
- Economical format
- More favourable purchase price compared with rotary gravure machines
- Eco-friendly process
- No approval for process necessary - only notification with emissions of
less than 25 kg/h
- Shorter print runs possible than with webfed gravure as well as less wastage
- Best printing results on low quality cardboard and recycled materials
- Continuous tone printing jobs are better due to constant register with
electrostatic print assist
- Laminated material can be substituted by printed basis
- Feeder compatible with HD offset presses for finishing options
- No powder contamination of sheets
- Faster change-over times between the jobs compared with web presses
Handling and Operating
- User-friendly and clear styled gravure press
- Easy operating of press
- Few operators required even when many units are in use
- Short training time for staff
- Short press make-ready time
- Quick printing job changeover
Production and Quality
- Register-true multi-passes through the press
- Best processing in short grain as well as in long grain direction
- No fading over the length of a sheet or over the whole run
- No streaking across the sheet
- No trapping, ghosting or ink problems like in other processes
- Stable inking during the process, irrespective of whether the sheet is
still wet or dry
- Up to four times more pigments can be transferred than in other processes
- All inks and varnishes need only one application for complete coverage
- Full surface printing on reverse side of rough cardboard in one printing
pass
- Reliable reproduction stability of finest metal characters in short and
long runs
- Ink with specially-combined pigments instead of heavy metal-containing
ink not only applies in the food industry, it replaces the bronzing method
- Pearlescent, fluorescent and metallic inks can be used for unusual effects,
which only attain their full brilliance with gravure
- Top results even with difficult ink formulations; special-inks against
counterfeiting
- Inline micro embossing / stray graining
- Immediate further processing and refinement after printing
Why Sheetfed Gravure Printing ?
There are many sound and valid reasons for sheetfed gravure printing: Judged
simply on its method, gravure printing puts all other processes in the shade
when it comes to:
- Color brilliance
- Optimum net-output
- Minimum wastage
- Overall production stability
- Streak-free full-surface ink application
- Varnishing and other specialities
No indirect printing process such as offset or flexo offer comparable easy
production whilst ensuring brilliance of colors and print consistency.
In addition even short runs are profitable.
Gravure is used in the field of package printing up to 400 g/m², label
printing from 75 g/m², security printing instead of intaglio and many
other special print jobs.
